Underwriters Agency of New England, Inc.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who is Underwriters Agency of New England?
A: Underwriters Agency of New England offers a broad range of products to independent agencies throughout the country. We operate as a central placement service for independent agencies to write business through our companies. UANE also markets and manages a national Farm Operations Workers Compensation program.

Q: What is the advantage of working with a central placement service?
A: Working with a central placement service offers many advantages to the independent agent. Accounts can be submitted and quoted by many different companies rather than working with each individual company underwriter. This service gives the agent the ability to build a closer relationship with one underwriter as well as using our underwriter as a great source for market competitiveness.

Q: What kind of agencies do we work with?
A: Underwriters Agency works with many different sized agencies through out the country. We offer a broad range of products from personal lines, commercial lines, mono-line workers compensation and program workers compensation. Depending on where your agency is located may depend on what products are available. We work with independent agencies providing specialty programs as well as standard lines products that suit the need of your agency.

Q: Any production commitments?
A: There are no production commitments for commercial lines appointments. Any agency seeking a producer sub-code for personal lines will be expected to meet low commitment requirements. We would like to see a steady amount of activity from each agency that signs our producer contracts in either personal or commercial lines business.

Q: How does our producer contract work?
A: Our contract is basically a hold harmless contract that does not restrict the independent agency from keeping or attracting new markets. The producer will continue to control any and all business writing through our markets. And retains the right to cancel the contract with 30 days written notice.

Q: How long will it take to get started?
A: Once we have received all of your signed producer contracts, agency profile and copies of your E&O declaration page and Brokers license we can begin quoting any commercial accounts that day. Personal lines in some cases may take up to two weeks to get company approval and set up sub-producer codes.
